Also, the cave theme, in going more for ambiance than music, isn't even as good at doing that than the underwater theme (linked above), which 1. but here, it simply doesn't compare to anything in DKC2's OST, such as the Ice Cave theme. It might even lean in favour of the former. The cave theme, for instance, is halfway between ambiance sounds and actual music.

The rest of the tracks are kind of average. The standout tracks of the first game are the first level theme, the underwater theme, and the final boss theme. So earlier this week, while I was listening to DKC2's soundtrack, it just popped into my head that what I was listening to was blowing what I had listened to previously out of the fucking water. Whenever I listened to DKC's music outside of playing it, it was on youtube, and I was only listening to a track or two not the whole soundtrack. Throughout my life, I have played DKC2 more than the first game. The last time I played both games was in the Fall of 2010. But what I had not realized until earlier this week, after listening to both of them almost back-to-back, was how much better it was. Everyone knows that the soundtrack to Donkey Kong Country 2 is better than that of the first game.
